White fronted Goose – three (two adults and a juvenile) at Meadow Lane GP on 22nd, increased to 16 on 24th and a minimum of 20 on 29th
Pink-footed Goose – long staying bird around Meadow Lane GP all month, another at Broom on 29th
Shelduck – one at Grovebury SP on 5th and 12th, birds at both Broom East CWS and Astral Park Leighton Buzzard on 27th
Pintail – one at Woburn on 3rd, one at Grovebury SP on 21st, 30th and 31st
American Wigeon – occasional seen again at MCP Wetlands NR but not always present. Noted on 1st after having been missing for about a week, also on 2nd, 11th to 15th, 18th and 21st at least, but reported as not present on a number of visits. At the end of the month it was at Chimney Corner South pit from 30th
Red-crested Pochard – five including four males at Brogborough Lake on 31st
Scaup – first winter bird from November noted again at Grovebury SP throughout the month. a female was on Poppy Hill Lakes, Henlow from 24th to 31st and another at Brogborough Lake on 29th to 31st
Ring-necked Duck – male at Priory CP on 16th until 19th, presumably the same bird that wintered in the county in 2019/20 and returned for a period in October 2020
Velvet Scoter – one on Brogborough Lake on 7th, the first in the county since two birds together in 2016
Goldeneye – highest numbers were again at Brogborough Lake with up to 32 noted there, singles also at Grovebury SP, Meadow Lane, Priory CP, Wyboston and at Harrold-Odell CP
Goosander – one at Poppy Hill Lake, Henlow on 2nd, three at Felmersham GP on 15th, 13 at Harrold-Odell CP on 21st, eight at Woburn on 31st
Dunlin – two at Broom East CWS on 27th
Jack Snipe – recorded from Black Cat GP. Gadsey Brook GP, Harrowden, Houghton Brook Pools, Rookery North
Snipe – 25 at Broom East CWS on 27th
Common Sandpiper – one at Gypsy Lane West, Broom GP on 22nd
Redshank – two at Meadow Lane GP on 30th
Caspian Gull – birds noted regularly in the roost at Brogborough Lake through the month including two adults, a fourth-winter, a second-winter and a first-winter . The fourth-winter bird was also noted on the Pillinge at MCP Wetlands NR and at Stewartby Lake
Mediterranean Gull – an adult at Stewartby Lake on 9th and 11th and Brogborough Lake on 27th
Cattle Egret – near Henlow, two from 4th, later joined by a third and increased to five on 21st with up to 15 Little Egrets in the same fields
Great White Egret – one at Brogborough Lake on 13th and 15th, one at Gadesy Brook GP on 27th, another near Beadlow Manor on 28th
Marsh Harrier – a female type seen regularly around the brick pits throughout the month, potentially the same at Meadow Lane on 30th
Merlin – one near Langford on 23rd, 27th and 31st, another at Thurleigh on 29th
Ring-necked Parakeet – on ein Wardown Park Luton on 22nd, two in Bromham on 27th, three in Luton on 30th
Siberian Chiffchaff – one at Biggleswade STW on 2nd, another between the Marston Moretaine STW and the Visitor Centre at MCP Wetlands NR on 29th
Bramblings – a good number of records this month with double-figure flocks noted at Poppy Hill Farm, Stanford and Knocking Hoe, all three sites with areas of sunflowers
Tree Sparrow – two noted at Henlow on 30th
