Rare breeder and scarce winter visitor. (Amber list).
The first record was from Rookery North ClP on 28th January. Booming calls were first heard on 16th March from MCP Wetlands NR and these continued regularly at the site until 4th May. The first likely feeding flight was on 6th May and similar behaviour was noted at the site until 21st May, indicating that breeding had taken place. During a Bird Club walk at MCP Wetlands NR on 8th June an adult flew up out of the reedbeds as a Marsh Harrier approached the likely nest site. Feeding flights were also seen at the nearby Rookery ClP. Booming also occurred at DW Eggs GP during 20th to 25th April.
Elsewhere there was one at Blunham Lakes on 12th April and the last sighting of the year was of one flying south over Sandy on 24th August.
