Widespread winter visitor and passage migrant. Included in 15.5% of BirdTrack lists. (Amber list).
Records were received from throughout the county early in the year, with the largest flock of 500 at Keysoe on 5th March. There were just two individuals in April, on the 1st at Fenlake Meadows and on the 5th at Pegnut Wood. The first returning birds of the autumn were noted on 28th September with nine over The Pinnacle. Vismig watches provided the opportunity to see some larger flocks moving during October, peaking at 881 at The Pinnacle on the 3rd, 804 at Sharpenhoe Clappers on the 12th, 2,199 at Everton on the 15th and 800 at The Pinnacle on the 17th.
