Overview
Drew Lyness is the BTO’s Engagement & Development Coordination (England), and is also a freelance bird tour guide, engagement volunteer for the RSPB mid-Yare Valley reserves (e.g. Strumpshaw Fen) and sits on the Norfolk Rarities Committee.
Drew will be sharing details of the very exciting forthcoming BTO Bird Atlas project running from 2027-31. He will be covering what this major citizen science project involves, how we might be able to participate and detailing some of the fascinating changes we might expect it show show for our bird populations, ranges and movements both locally and nationally (especially since the the previous atlas was nearly two decades ago). There’ll undoubtedly be some real surprises along the way, and Drew will highlight some of the species for which the next bird atlas will be vital for our understanding and for future conservation. It’s sure to be an interesting and motivating evening and we hope to see you there.
