Overview

A ‘collection’ of the different pigeon and dove projects. The talk will discuss the results of taxonomic and dna work I’ve done over the years. A brief biography about me and my work below:

I am a Bird Curator for almost 30 years now. I started in 1997 as the Bird Curator at the Natural History Museum Naturalis in Leiden, NL, and since 2009 I am in the same role at the NHM at Tring. Main tasks of a curator are hosting researchers who visit the collections, answering collection and bird related questions, keeping the collection accessible and up to date for research, and publishing on own, collection-based research. My main interests re. research is taxonomy in general and Pigeons & Doves in particular. Since childhood I keep and breed birds, mainly Barbary Doves, and have researched the origin and inheritance of all known mutations in this species.
