Garganey – one at Priory from 18th to end of month

Mandarin – 35 juvenile/female types at Woburn on 18th

Ringed Plover – four at Grovebury SP on 30th

Dunlin – three at Broom East CWS on 13th, one at MCP Wetlands NR on 16th, two at Grovebury SP on 30th

Knot – one at Grovebury SP on 29th

Turnstone – a flock of 18 went through Grovebuey SP on 16th

Wood Sandpiper – birds noted at Broom East CWS on 1st, 3rd and 12th, 13th, 20th, another at Grovebury SP on 9th

Black-tailed Godwit – four at MCP Wetlands NR on 9th, one at Brogborough Tip pools on 11th, birds at Broom East CWS on 14th and 16th

Curlew – one flew in at Houghton Regis Quarry on 3rd

Ruff – one at Broom East CWS on 6th-10th, another on 12th, two from 13th increased to four on 18th, six on 30th and seven there on 31st

Spoonbill – one at Grovebury on 21st and 22nd

Cattle Egret – five roosted at Grovebury SP on 19th, one on 23rd

Great White Egret – one over Sandy on 2nd, one at MCP Wetlands NR on 2nd and then around there and Stewartby Lake from 9th to 12th at least

Caspian Gull – an adult at Broom South Quarry on 8th, a juvenile there on 17th and 18th, birds also at Grovebury SP including an adult on 14th, 19th and 23rd

Mediterranean Gull – one juvenile at Broom South Quarry on 18th

Little Gull – two juveniles at Grovebury SP on 14th,  another juvenile at MCP Wetlands NR on 16th

Sandwich Tern – eight at Grovebury SP early on 11th before moving on to Wilstone Res (Herts), one at Stewartby Lake on 25th

Arctic Tern – a juvenile at MCP Wetlands NR on 23rd

Marsh Harrier – one at Grovebury SP on 9th

Osprey – one at Houghton Brook Pools on 22nd, one over Bradger’s Hill on 26th, one at East Hyde on 29th

Short-eared Owl – one near Maulden on 29th

Yellow Wagtail – up to 50 in fields at Streatley in the last week of the month

Firecrest – one at Pegsdon on 11th

Wheatear – small numbers with first at Pegsdon Hills on 2nd, three at Brogborough Hill on 15th with singles elsewhere in the month at Broom East CWS, Brogborough Tip Pools and Streatley

Whinchat – one on 12th, two at Broom East CWS on 22nd, one at Pegsdon on 23rd, up to five near Whitehill Wood on 31st and three at Brogborough Tip the same day

Redstart – at least one at Pegsdon Hills on 2nd, another at Cooper’s Hill the same day, one at Houghton Quarry on 4th, two further birds at Pegsdon on 11th and one there 16th, another on 23rd, two on Brogborough Hill on 23rd, one there on 29th and 31st, birds at Streatley from 24th to the end of the month peaking at six on 30th, two near Whitehill Wood on 31st, two at Galley Hill on 31st,

Pied Flycatcher – one reported at Pegsdon Hills on 5th, singles at Ampthill Park and Brogborough Hill on 16th, another at Henlow on 17th

Spotted Flycatcher – on 2nd there were five at Cooper’s Hill and eight at Ampthill Park presumably evidence of local breeding? then one at Houghton Quarry on 3rd, two at Pegsdon on 11th, and more individuals on passage at a number of sites peaking in the last week of the month including ten at Sandy Heath, four at Streatley, two at The Lodge.

Tree Pipit – one at Brogborough Hill on 23rd

Crossbill – several at The Lodge RSPB on 9th
