Uncommon but widespread resident. (Green list).

In the Ivel Valley Barn Owl Project (AP), 45 nest boxes were monitored, 23 contained young and 53 pulli were ringed. Elsewhere, another 26 were ringed.

Outside of the Ivel Valley Project, breeding was confirmed at six more sites, including Old Warden, where a pair had three young, and Biggleswade Common, with probably two pairs. The other sites were Southill Park, Strawberry Hill Farm, Tetworth Hall Estate and Broom South Quarry.
