Regular passage migrant, an increasing, but still scarce breeder. The East of England long term trend is increasing +41%*. (Amber list).
Successful breeding took place at MCP Wetlands NR, where two pairs produced young, at Grovebury SP, where a pair had three young, at Broom South Quarry, where a pair had four young, and at Gadsey Brook, where a pair had one young. Possible breeding took place at Black Cat GP and Clophill Lakes.
The first of the year was one at Broom East on 27th January, and the highest counts were of eight, at MCP Wetlands NR on 16th March and at Wood Farm, near Old Warden, on 8th July. The last of the autumn was one at MCP Wetlands NR on 9th September, and there was one winter record, of one at Priory CP on 31st December.
